New Found Glory helps open the B9 Warehouse Matinee Series
Two years after getting the keys to our new HQ in Beverly, Mass and just six months after opening our record store here on Rantoul Street, Bridge Nine hosted our inaugural fully-plugged-in live performance with the band New Found Glory, who very graciously kicked off our first Warehouse Matinee just hours before doing double-duty at their sold-out show at the 900-seat Somerville Theatre.
Deciding to open a record store was a conscious effort to engage with people more. Our last HQ was hidden away in an industrial complex. Now that we’re on a busy street in a cool downtown area, we wanted to create opportunities for people to get together. And what better way then by inviting one of our favorite bands to perform for the most intimate of audiences?
Bridge Nine has had a long history with New Found Glory, going back to when we first met them in 2004, in Australia of all places. Chris B9 was with a band doing a club tour, and New Found Glory had just landed in the same city about to start their own tour the following day. Once they realized an American hardcore band was playing in town, they came to the show to check it out and say hello. We stayed in touch, and three years later when NFG guitarist Chad Gilbert produced our first release for H2O, the Nothing To Prove album, we started talking about releasing something for International Superheroes of Hardcore, the heavier alter-ego of NFG. That turned into the dual-release Tip Of The Iceberg 7” and ISHC LP, which came out in the spring of 2008, and the first of eleven different releases with the New Found Glory camp over the next five years.
New Found Glory is currently on tour supporting their new album on Revelation Records called Make The Most Of It, which is an acoustic album written by the band in the wake of Chad Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis. He has been receiving treatment for a rare form of cancer called Pheochromocytoma, and has sat out the second half of the tour, with Dan from Four Year Strong filling in for him. We had asked Chad if NFG would be down to play our store, and the band agreed to do it, so we created an exclusive cover for their new album in homage to the famous Judge Chung King Can Suck It LP and updated it with the Cancer Can Suck It slogan that Chad had been using on tour. These LP’s were made in a limited quantity, hand-numbered, and only available in-person at the Bridge Nine store. The bonus though, was it came with admission to see the band perform fully plugged-in less than a week later!
To get the warehouse ready, long-time supporter Larry Kelley built a drum riser and tracked down a drum set and much of the backline that was needed for the band to perform. Chris picked the band up at the Somerville Theatre in a 12-passenger van, and rushed them back to the Bridge Nine store. After a short sound check, they ripped through twelve songs in just over thirty minutes.
Everyone here at Bridge Nine wants to thank New Found Glory for playing our store and warehouse, and wish Chad Gilbert well as he continues to receive treatment for Pheochromocytoma. You were missed, and we hope you can make it out to the B9HQ on your next tour!

New Found Glory: LIVE! At Bridge Nine
New Found Glory is on tour supporting their new all-acoustic LP, Make The Most Of It, on Revelation Records. They’ll be playing a sold-out show in the Boston area on the evening of Thursday, March 16th, at the 900-capacity Somerville Theatre, but for a very lucky few, they’ll be playing fully plugged-in at Bridge Nine Records earlier that afternoon!
Want to be there??
To catch New Found Glory in such an intimate setting, you’ll need to come to the Bridge Nine Records brick-and-mortar store in Beverly, Massachusetts, between now and whenever the records sell out (we’ll post when that happens) and buy a copy of their new LP, complete with a very limited Judge-homage “Cancer Can Suck It” cover! The LPs are available on a one-per-person, while-supplies-last basis, so anyone wanting to catch the show must stop by and pick one up!
Buying the LP puts you on the list for when they perform on March 16th. Want to be there? What are you waiting for?
Please Note: The Bridge Nine Record Store WILL BE OPEN on Monday, March 13th, and Tuesday March 14th from 11am until 5pm (we’re usually closed those days, but leading up to this show and St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll be open!)
Shawna Potter on Women Who Inspire Her
Recently, in honor of International Women’s Day, we reached out to Shawna Potter of War On Women to ask her about the women who have shaped her life, as well as the art and activism that inspire her own work.
“There's not a woman that's come into my life that hasn't shaped me in some way, but a few of the most impactful would be my mom and her mom, both of whom raised me to be independent and creative. My best friend Mel, whose knowledge and experience in gender-based violence response work pushed me to be a better activist every day. My Hollaback! family of the 2010s, who created community even when we were spread out all over the world, uniting with a single purpose to end harassment without a hint of competition or scarcity mindset.”
“Artistically, there's too much I couldn't even name it all, but what comes to mind is the raw, independent punk spirit embodied by Bikini Kill, Hole, and the Slits that I was lucky enough to find in my formative years. For books, the Valley of the Dolls, My Secret Garden, and the work of Margaret Atwood, Adrienne Marie Brown, and Carol Adams.”
“Lastly, I want to elevate the work of Las Tesis, the women protesting for more freedom in Iran, Russia, and around the world, Brigid Alliance, Yellowhammer, and anyone else working towards reproductive freedom, anyone working in transformative justice, like Creative Interventions, founded by Mimi Kim, and anyone working towards environmental justice. Lastly, I am humbled and inspired every day by my sisters who are trans, Black, Brown, and/or disabled, and will continue to learn all I can do to be a better accomplice in their fights for equality.”

In Support of Sean Lipinski's Family (Regret, Holding On)
REGRET was a hardcore band from Minneapolis that was active from 2005-2008, featuring a member of Holding On, who released an album on Bridge Nine in 2002. The band recorded a four-song demo, a six-song e.p. titled “Misery Brigade,” and an unreleased e.p. which circulated online and among friends. The band was led by guitarist and songwriter SEAN LIPINSKI. It was Sean’s vision, talent, and sheer force of will which kept the band moving forward.
On December 27, 2022, Sean died unexpectedly following complications from an aggressive brain tumor. He left behind an adoring wife and two beautiful daughters. This project hopes to serve the dual purpose of raising money to support Sean’s family, as well as finally compiling everything Regret recorded for the last time. This discography includes every song the band released, along with the unreleased “Hard Drugs” e.p. 100% of all proceeds will be donated to the Lipinski family.
It is a deep honor to Sean’s friends who comprised Regret to have been a part of his band. It is a deep honor to document our humble contribution to his legacy. Thank you for your support. Preorder HERE!

BHC on WBZ, Colin & the Boston Hardcore "Bad Kids" T-Shirt
Hardcore rarely makes the news, but the viral WBZ News Radio reporter, Matt Shearer, visited Brockton, MA this past weekend and met none other than local legend Colin Campbell (Colin of Arabia, Gatekeeper Jam). Colin invited him to experience the hardcore scene at Badlands Hall with a show featuring Fiddlehead (ex-Have Heart), Angeldust, and Drug Church. With Colin's blessing, we took his description of hardcore and memorialized it in a shirt: "All the bad kids from class together doing bad kid stuff."
